Licensing
Free for your own work. A license when Cortex serves others.
Your own work
Free for one person on one machine, with no account and no login. Bringing that agent back, orienting, searching, recalling, assembling, compiling and undoing.
This part is never gated. Capabilities can join it; none will be taken out of it.
Research preview
Everything else Cortex does today is free while the preview runs: the background daemon, large ingests, upkeep across a whole project, and sync between your own machines. It is unlocked by the key that ships with each release.
Before any of it changes or becomes paid, you get at least 30 days' notice. Your own work keeps running either way.
Serving others
Using Cortex to provide something to someone else, a team, a customer or a product, needs a license. The line is serving others, not making money.
Not sure which side you are on? Write to Arc and ask. We would rather answer than have you guess, and we do not try to list every case in advance.
Working with Arc
- Commercial & embedded
- A license to serve others with Cortex or build it into your product, by a signed order. Ask for terms.
- Arc deploys with you
- Arc's engineers bring Cortex into your environment and stay until it runs. Forward-deployed engineering.
- Partnerships
- Deeper arrangements with what Arc holds. Licensing & partnership.
If a license lapses
Nothing switches off. Your own work keeps running, and a deployment that serves others says plainly that its authorization has lapsed. Arc enforces by not renewing, never by remote shutdown.
The binding text is in the terms. Some capabilities may require a free Arc account.
